πŸ“ About Pol

Hello! My name is Pol, and I grew up in a culture different from that of either of my parents and has made me an adventurer, digital nomad, polyglot, marketer, educator, and philosophical thinker. Having grown up in an international community, I have developed a unique view of the world and the cultures that developed them. I love traveling and experiencing new situations that allow me to develop myself together with others. My educational background is in marketing and I have experience creating teaching businesses, working in startups, multinational corporations, and digital remote companies. I have been living and traveling in my van since the Spring of 2022 and this experience has made my passion for education stronger than ever. I have 5+ years of teaching experience and even more being a coach for all types of learners and skills; my background and fluency in multiple languages and the cultures that back it, allows me to understand the challenges growing up as a TCK. This skill and asking the right questions makes me a coach that is able to guide and push learners to reach their highest potentials. In my Pod, I will guide and coach fellow TCKs on the challenges we may face in different chapters of our lives and provide strategies to overcome them. These are designed for students to develop insights into the way they think and feel about themselves and the world around them. After all, we are what we believe we are and it's important to develop positive beliefs about ourselves so we can live a full & connected life, without losing our identity. Just imagine the doors this opens!

πŸ“ƒ Resume

  • Head of Outdoor Adventure Learning
    2011 - 2011
Our team brought a group of 15 teenagers on a week-long camping trip where every staff member would be in charge of one aspect of outdoor learning. Aspects included English reading & speaking, reflection, sports, cooking (team-building), and outdoor adventures. I was in charge of the outdoor adventure aspect where I taught them skills such as orientation without a compass, first aid, fire building, and knots & lashings (all skills I learned during my seven years in the Boy Scouts of America).
  • Co-founder of English & F&B Staff Service Training
    2012 - 2015
During my university years, using the skills acquired during my cross-training and internship at the Presidential Hotel as well as Assunta, I started a training school together with a classmate. We brushed up our skills online, tested each other, and pitched training courses to select F&B institutions in Beijing. We landed a deal with a large bar/grill/restaurant in Sanlitun; this was a three-story establishment with German, Italian, and Mexican cuisine. Our curriculum included three different levels of English, service standards/etiquette, upselling, and keeping customers happy in general and making them want to come back.
  • Special Projects Manager
    2015 - 2016
I moved to Shenzhen in my last semester of my undergraduate studies while writing my thesis. Before the PM position, I helped set up, structure, and create SOPs for various departments in the startup including customer service, production, and order placement. This allowed me to be a better Project Manager. As PM, I was involved in planning, executing, and overseeing special projects and collaborations to do with photography exhibitions. Projects included the following: - Production & QC of Nick Waplington's exhibition of Alexander McQueen's behind the scenes - Production, QC, transportation, and the setting up of Ellen von Unwerth's series of BlackOut images for Memorieslab's digital activation in 10 Corso Como, Shanghai in late October 2015. - Aiding the staff of Imago (a one-of-a-kind walk-in camera that shoots unique life-sized images on Direct Positive Paper) during our activation and BlackOut Exhibition. - Preparation & communication for an exhibition of 10 artists' works in

πŸ“† Syllabus

Having fun is an integral part of learning anything, so we will start off with a short game or prompt that get our minds into the learning and motivated mindset. Then we will review the challenges faced since our last discussion and develop strategies to overcome them. Over time, we will get to know each other quite well and be able to help each other and ourselves. Building confidence is key in believing in yourself and developing your identity, resulting in easier communications with others and making the world a better place to be in.

πŸ”¨ Tools

There are a plethora of tools out there that help you better understand yourself, the way you learn, and the way you think. We will use some self assessments from sites such as educationplanner and learningstylequiz to give us an idea of how we view and interact with our fellow humans that we share the world with.
