Draw it step by step

Six steps to an excavator

New lines are purple. Lines you already drew turn light.

1

Start with the tracks

Draw a long flat shape with round ends at the bottom. That is the track the excavator rolls on.

2

Build the body

Stand a low box on the track, with a tall cab at the back. Both sides start on the track's top line.

3

Raise the boom

Draw a thick arm from the front of the body, up high, and bent down at the end. Finish it with a round joint.

4

Hang the bucket

Two lines straight down from the joint, then a scoop at the bottom. The scoop opens toward the tracks.

5

Add the small parts

Three wheels inside the track, a window in the cab, and three pointy teeth on the scoop.

6

Finishing touches

A warning light on the roof, with little lines to make it flash. Now this excavator is yours.

Animate your drawing with AI

Finished drawing? In a Kubrio project, your kid turns this paper excavator into a real animated film — with Kubrio's AI thinking partners at their side. The little scoop below is a wink; the real clips go much further.

Ingenious projects that inspire kids to make things — until they find the thing only they could make.
