Six steps to a train

New lines are purple. Lines you already drew turn light.

1

Start with the engine

Draw a long low box with a tall box at the back. Scoop out three curves along the bottom for the wheels.

2

Add the chimney

A tall chimney near the front, wide at the top like a funnel. Then a little dome behind it.

3

Wheels on a track

Two small wheels in front, one big wheel under the cab. Draw one long line under them all for the track.

4

A window and a cowcatcher

A square window in the cab. A pointy triangle at the front pushes things off the track.

5

Hubs and sleepers

A dot in the middle of every wheel. Add short lines under the track for the wooden sleepers.

6

Finishing touches

A bright light on the front, and two puffs of smoke from the chimney. Now this train is yours.

Animate your drawing with AI

Finished drawing? In a Kubrio project, your kid turns this paper train into a real animated film — with Kubrio's AI thinking partners at their side. The little puff of smoke below is a wink; the real clips go much further.

Ingenious projects that inspire kids to make things — until they find the thing only they could make.
Ages 6–13.
