Make a boss battle

Made in Game Studio

Your kid draws a hero, a friend to rescue, and a villain on paper, then builds a game in Kubrio's Game Studio where each level gets harder and the villain returns as a giant boss. The family plays it from a link.

What your kid actually makes

A rescue game with a boss fight at the end. The hero has to save a friend from a villain. The levels build up to the fight: a door, a key, the villain, a challenge your kid picks, and then the villain comes back big. Your kid decides how many hits the boss takes and which power beats it.

How a sitting goes

Your kid draws the hero, the friend, and the villain on paper and snaps each one. In Game Design, they pick Save a friend as the goal, then build the levels in order. Each level opens with the character it needs, then the rules: how the villain moves, how fast, and which power hits the boss (throw, bounce, or dash). They play every level before it launches.

What AI does — and what your kid does

Your kid draws the characters, places every piece, and picks every rule, including how hard the boss is. The AI turns the drawings into game characters, paints the backgrounds, suggests where pieces could go, checks that each level can be beaten, and makes the theme song. Your kid can change anything it suggests.

What they're really learning

A good boss fight is a test of everything the player learned on the way. To build one, your kid has to think about difficulty: too easy is boring, too hard is unfair. Tuning the boss's hits until the fight feels right is real game design.

Good to know

  • Made in the Game Studio.
  • The villain chases and the boss fights back, but nobody gets hurt. The hero loses a heart and tries again.

There are two kinds of projects for kids. The first kind ends on the fridge door. The second kind ends as a real thing other kids can read, watch, or play: a comic, a game, a film, an episode. Kubrio makes the second kind. Kids make them by directing the same AI the pros use.
