How to draw a rose

The middle is a little heart, and every curve after that loops around it. Watch the video, follow along on paper, then bring your rose to life.

Draw it step by step

Six steps to a rose

New lines are purple. Lines you already drew turn light.

1

Start with the bloom

Draw a big circle with soft bumps around the edge. Bumpy is good — those bumps are the outside petals.

2

Heart in the middle

A small heart in the middle, then one curve looping around it.

3

Curl the petals

One more curve around the heart, tucked into the edge on each side.

4

Add the stem

A little cup under the bloom, then one long line down for the stem.

5

Two pointy leaves

A short branch on each side, with a pointy leaf at the end.

6

Finishing touches

One line down each leaf, a thorn on the stem, and a drop of dew. Now this rose is yours.

The magic part

Animate your drawing with AI

Finished drawing? In the Sketchling project, your kid turns this paper rose into a real animated film — with Kubrio's AI thinking partners at their side. The leaf fluttering below is a wink; the real clips go much further.

Ingenious projects that inspire kids to make things — until they find the thing only they could make.
