Draw it step by step

Six steps to a jack-o'-lantern

New lines are purple. Lines you already drew turn light.

1

Start with the body

Draw one big oval in the middle of your paper. Wobbly is fine — wobbly ovals make friendly lanterns.

2

Add two round sides

Curve one line out to the left and one out to the right. Start and finish them both on the oval.

3

Draw a curly stem

Two short lines climb from the top and lean to the right. Cap them with a small curve to make a fat, stubby stem.

4

Triangle eyes and a nose

Two big triangles for the eyes, both pointing down. A smaller triangle in the middle, pointing up, makes the nose.

5

Add a zigzag grin

Draw a wide smile with three pointy teeth hanging into it. Make it wider than you think — a big grin makes a happy lantern.

6

Finishing touches

A stalk off the stem, a pointy leaf, and three short glow lines. Now this jack-o'-lantern is yours.

Now carve a face that's surprised, not scary.

Animate your drawing with AI

Finished drawing? In a Kubrio project, your kid turns this paper jack-o'-lantern into a real animated film — with Kubrio's AI thinking partners at their side. The little leaf sway below is a wink; the real clips go much further.

Ingenious projects that inspire kids to make things — until they find the thing only they could make.
