"What is the AI Crew?"
"The AI Crew is three thinking partners — Krea the creative, Tek the maker, and Brio the questioner — who work alongside your kid inside every Kubrio app. They ask better questions instead of giving answers, so your kid stays the maker. They share one memory across apps and are reachable by voice."
The AI Crew is three characters — Krea, Tek, and Brio — who work alongside your kid inside every Kubrio app while they build. They are thinking partners, not answer machines. Their whole job is to ask the better question so your kid keeps making the real decisions. The hand stays the hero.
The same three show up everywhere your kid works, they remember what your kid has done, and your kid can talk to them out loud. Here is exactly how they work.
Who are Krea, Tek, and Brio?
Each partner leans a different way, so your kid gets a different kind of push depending on which one they reach for:
- Krea — the creative. Krea sparks lateral thinking and fresh ideas. When your kid is stuck for an idea, Krea asks what feeling they want, what would surprise people, what they would try if nothing could go wrong.
- Tek — the maker. Tek goes deeper on how things work and how to build them. Instead of solving the problem for your kid, Tek helps them figure out the next step — where the thing started going sideways, what to try next.
- Brio — the questioner. Brio is reflective and Socratic, always asking the next question. Brio helps your kid look at what they made and ask what worked, what did not, who it is for, and what would make it better.
Same three characters across every app, so your kid meets the same Krea in a film project as in a magazine project. The narrative introduction has more on their personalities; this page is the reference.
What is the one rule?
The Crew has one rule: ask better questions instead of handing over answers. They will not make the thing for your kid. When your kid hits a wall, a partner responds with a question that moves them forward — but the making stays in your kid's hands. This is the core of how Kubrio works, and it is why what your kid finishes is genuinely theirs. You can see it in action on what your kid does.
How do they show up in the apps?
The Crew lives inside every studio app as a companion your kid can reach while they work. As your kid builds — drawing, drafting, coding, deciding — a partner can nudge with a question at the right moment, and your kid can call one up whenever they want a push.
They are also reachable by voice, in a walkie-talkie-style mode: your kid presses to talk, says what they are stuck on out loud, and hears a partner respond. Text is always available too, so a kid who would rather type can. The voices are stylized on purpose — your kid always knows they are talking to an AI character, never a person.
Do they remember what my kid did?
Yes. The Crew shares one memory across every app. A partner in one app knows what your kid made and talked about in another, so the questions build on your kid's actual history instead of starting cold each time. That shared memory is what makes the three feel like partners who know your kid rather than a generic chatbot bolted onto each app. They adapt their tone to each app — a bit more playful in a creative app, a bit more precise in a building one — while staying the same characters underneath.
How is the Crew different from Claire?
The Crew and Claire are separate, and they do different jobs.
- The Crew works in the moment, inside the apps, alongside your kid while they build.
- Claire is the family coach who zooms out. She has a weekly live voice check-in with your kid and emails you a summary.
Claire is not one of the Crew, and the Crew does not run the weekly check-in or email you. Think of the Crew as partners at the workbench and Claire as the coach watching the whole season.
Is the Crew safe?
Yes. Every message between your kid and the AI is checked by a second AI before it goes through. The Crew is honest about being AI — if a kid asks, a partner will say plainly that it is an AI thinking partner, not a person — and it hands off to a grown-up for anything that needs one. It all runs in Kubrio's kid-only, ad-free, COPPA-compliant space, and you get visibility into what is happening. Full detail is on safety and in safety and data.

Frequently asked questions
Will the Crew just do my kid's work for them?
No. That is the point of the one rule: they ask better questions instead of handing over answers. A partner will nudge your kid toward the next step, but the decisions and the making stay with your kid.
Which partner should my kid talk to?
Whichever fits the moment. Krea for a fresh idea, Tek for figuring out how to build something, Brio for stepping back and improving it. Your kid can switch between them anytime.
Can my kid talk to them out loud?
Yes. The Crew is reachable in a walkie-talkie-style voice mode — press to talk, hear a partner respond. Your kid can also type instead if they prefer.
Do the Crew characters remember my kid between apps?
Yes. The Crew shares one memory across every Kubrio app, so a partner's questions build on what your kid has already made and talked about elsewhere.
Are Krea, Tek, and Brio the same as Claire?
No. They are the in-app thinking partners. Claire is the separate [family learning coach](/docs/claire) who checks in weekly and reports to you. The Crew works alongside your kid; Claire zooms out.
