Six steps to a kraken

New lines are purple. Lines you already drew turn light.

1

Start with the head

Draw a tall head with a pointed top, like a rocket. Leave the bottom open. Wobbly is fine.

2

Draw the sea

Draw one wavy line across the page. Leave four small gaps where the tentacles come up.

3

Four curly tentacles

Four tentacles rise out of the gaps, wide at the bottom and pointy at the tip. Curl some in and some out.

4

Fins, a face, and suckers

Two small fins near the point, two big dot eyes, and a wide smile. Then a few sucker dots on two tentacles.

5

Add a tiny boat

A tiny boat bobs in front of the kraken. Give it a mast and a triangle sail.

6

Finishing touches

Ripples on the sea and a flag on the boat. Now this kraken is yours.

Now draw a kraken giving a tiny ship a ride.

The magic part

Animate your drawing with AI

Finished drawing? In a Kubrio project, your kid turns this paper kraken into a real animated film — with Kubrio's AI thinking partners at their side. The little wave below is a wink; the real clips go much further.

Ingenious projects that inspire kids to make things — until they find the thing only they could make.
Ages 6–13.
