Halloween for kids Costume ideas Dinosaur hoodie

Dinosaur hoodie costume
Ages 6+ · about 1 hour, plus drying overnight
A dinosaur hoodie is a plain hoodie with felt spikes glued down the hood and back. Big spikes on the back and small ones on the hood make it look right, and it is warm enough for a cold Halloween night.
What you need
- A hoodie in green, gray, or any one color
- Felt sheets in a second color
- Scissors and chalk
- Fabric glue, or safety pins, or a needle and thread
How to make it
- Mark the lineLay the hoodie flat and draw a chalk line from the front of the hood, over the top, and down the middle of the back.
- Cut the spikesCut felt triangles: big ones for the back, small ones for the hood. Leave a flat strip about 1 cm tall along the bottom of each one.
- Lay them outPlace the spikes along the chalk line, biggest in the middle of the back and smaller toward each end. Move them until they look right.
- Fix them onGlue each flat strip on the line and press it down. Let it dry flat overnight. Safety pins from the inside work for a costume tonight.
- Add claws (optional)Cut small felt triangles and glue them to the fingers of a pair of gloves.
Tips by age
For younger kids
Your kid draws the spikes on the felt with chalk and lays them out; a grown-up cuts.
For older kids
Make a tail from a stuffed tight leg with spikes along the top, pinned to the back of the trousers.
