Why does Kubrio verify every parent?

The safest place online for kids — that's what we're building. Verification is the part of that promise you can actually check.

Most places for kids ask an adult to tick a box. A box is not evidence. On Kubrio, every adult inside the community has proven they're a parent, one of two ways, and there is no third way in.

Why verify at all?

Because "adults only get in by proving it" is the only version of a kids' community that means anything. Your kid can see other kids' work in here — games, magazines, films — and other families can see your kid's, as first name and age. That only works if the adult on the other end of every account is a real parent who did something to prove it.

It is also how the law is satisfied. Verified-parent accounts are how we keep Kubrio COPPA-safe — unverified accounts are removed after 30 days.

What are the two ways in?

Your card. If you have a membership, you are already verified. A payment card is a recognized way for a parent to give verifiable parental consent, and Stripe already ran it. Asking you for an ID afterwards would be asking twice for the same fact, so we don't.

A short ID check. If you're on the free tier and have never paid, you do a check run by Stripe Identity instead. It's free, takes about a minute, and needs no card.

Both doors lead to exactly the same place. Neither is better than the other, and neither buys you anything beyond the community — verification is a safety check, never an entitlement. What your kid can make is a separate question, answered by a membership or a legacy credit.

What does the ID check actually involve, and what do you keep?

You hand your ID to Stripe, not to Kubrio. Stripe checks the document and tells us one thing: whether the check passed.

• We never see the document. It is not shown to anyone at Kubrio.
• We never store it. No copy, no image, no scan reaches our systems.
• The only thing on your Kubrio account is a status — unverified, pending, verified, or failed. That's the whole record.

If the check is still processing, you can close the tab. The community opens by itself the moment it clears.

Does verification expire if I cancel?

No. Once you have proven you're a parent, you have proven it.

If you paid and later cancel, your community access stays. The card was verified once, and the person on the other end of it did not stop being that child's parent when the subscription lapsed. The same is true of an ID check — it doesn't need redoing.

What happens at 30 days?

An account that has neither verified nor started a membership within 30 days is removed. Before that happens, we email you about it — including a plain notice the day before, with both ways to keep the account.

Removal means the account and its profiles are deleted. It never touches a child's creations: making anything on Kubrio requires a membership or a legacy credit, and paying verifies you permanently — so an account that reaches day 30 unverified is, by construction, an account with no kid work under it. What kids make is kept forever, and a project a kid joins is theirs to keep.

If your account is removed and you want to come back, you're welcome to. Start a new one whenever you like.

What do I get once I'm verified?

The community, free — for as long as you want it.

Your kid can play games, read magazines and watch films made by other kids aged 6 to 13, and see projects being made live, with a count of how many kids are in each one. Kids appear as first name and age — "Maya, 9" — and nothing else. There is no chat and there are no DMs; kids don't message each other here, they make things and show each other. There are no ads, ever. Only work a kid chose to publish, and that we reviewed, reaches the public gallery.

Making projects is the part that costs money, and only a parent can start it. Nothing is ever bought from a kid's screen.
