How do I win?
A game only knows you won if a rule says so. You write the rule.
Meet the win rule
Until now, this page has been checking whether you won. In a real game, nobody checks for you — the game has to say it. Two new blocks do that. The 🏁 hat starts its blocks when your character reaches its goal. The 🏆 block says: you win! Together they are a rule.
When it reaches the goal → you win. That is a whole rule, in two blocks.
See it work
This mouse has two programs: one moves it when you tap, and one is a win rule. Watch what happens on the cheese.
The win rule
Four taps did nothing special. The fifth put the mouse on the cheese, the 🏁 hat heard it, and the 🏆 block ran. The game knew you won because a rule told it.
Your turn
Now you're the programmer — the game is built, except for winning.
Can you write the rule that wins?
Add a win rule. Then press ▶, tap the 🐭 past the 🐱, and win on the 🧀.

What if you play without your rule?
Take your two blocks off and play again. The mouse reaches the cheese … and nothing happens. It just stands there, and the cat keeps walking. Getting to the goal is not winning until something in the game says so.
For grown-ups
A win condition is a rule the program checks and acts on — in code it is usually an if-statement, and forgetting it is one of the first bugs every game designer writes.

Make a game other kids can play
The blocks on this page are a first taste. In a Kubrio project your kid builds a real game — powers, triggers, levels and all — and other kids get to play it.
