Transcript

Hi, I'm Krea! Today you invent someone nobody has ever seen.

Not a cat. Not a dragon from a book. Someone new.

Every great character starts with a wish.

What do they want more than anything?

Then comes the shape. Round feels friendly. Pointy feels tricky. Square feels strong.

Then one thing nobody forgets. A hat. A scar. Socks that never match.

You'll draw them from the front and from the side.

And you'll draw three faces: happy, scared, and mad.

That's a character sheet. Real artists make them too.

Then your character can go into movies, games, and comics.

Who's in your head right now?

Let's draw them.

The 5 lessons

  1. Lesson 1. Start with a wish

A name and one big wish make a character feel alive.

    1. Give your character a name
    2. Write the one thing they want most
    3. Write one thing they're scared of

    Where: Paper

  2. Lesson 2. Shape first

Round, square, and pointy shapes tell people who your character is.

    1. Pick one main shape
    2. Draw the body with that shape
    3. Ask someone: does it look friendly, strong, or tricky?

    Where: Paper

  3. Lesson 3. One thing nobody forgets

Add one detail that makes your character easy to remember.

    1. Pick one detail, like a hat or a tail
    2. Make it big
    3. Use the same color for it every time

    Where: Paper

  4. Lesson 4. The character sheet

Draw your character from the front, from the side, and with three faces.

    1. Draw the front
    2. Draw the side
    3. Draw happy, scared, and mad faces

    Where: Paper

  5. Lesson 5. Bring them in

Save your character so you can use them in any studio.

    1. Snap a photo of your character sheet
    2. Save it in My characters
    3. Pick a studio to use them in first

    Where: My characters

What your kid makes

Your kid ends with a character sheet on paper: a name, a wish, a front and side view, and three faces. The character is saved in My characters and can star in a movie in Animation Studio, a game in Game Studio, or a comic in Comic Studio.

Questions parents ask

My kid says, "I'm bad at drawing." Will this work?

Yes. The course starts with simple shapes and a wish, not with drawing skill. A circle with a hat and a clear want is a real character.

What age is this character course for?

It's made for kids 6 to 13. Younger kids draw one view and two faces. Older kids fill in the full sheet and add details.

Does my kid need the app to do this course?

The drawing is all on paper. The app is used to watch the films and, at the end, to save the character for use in the studios.

Your kid can start making today, with the courses that are out now.
