How to draw a monster and turn it into a movie

This course shows your kid how to draw a monster nobody has seen and turn it into a 30-second movie. Krea hosts five short films: your kid invents the monster on paper, plans three scenes, picks the sound, and shoots the film in Animation Studio. Plan about five minutes of films and 45 minutes of making.

Krea's 45-second intro film is coming soon. Here's what Krea says in it.

Transcript

Hi, I'm Krea. Let's invent a monster nobody has ever seen.

Not a scary copy of a scary one. Yours.

Maybe it has three eyes and tiny feet. Maybe it's fluffy and very, very grumpy.

First you draw it on paper.

Then you find out what your monster wants. A snack? A friend? A quiet nap?

And here's a secret. Every monster is scared of something too.

You put all of that into three scenes.

You pick spooky music, or funny music, if your monster is a silly one.

Then your drawing comes to life and stars in its own movie.

Ready? Grab a pencil and let's meet your monster.

What your kid makes

Your kid ends with a 30-second monster film made from their own drawings, with music, one line of dialogue, and their name on it. The monster stays in the kid's saved characters, so it can star in a game in Game Studio or a comic in Comic Studio next.

Questions parents ask

Will this be too scary for my kid?

Your kid decides how scary the monster is. Many kids make silly or friendly monsters and pick the Funny music instead of Spooky.

Does my kid need to draw well?

No. The film uses your kid's drawing as it is, so a wobbly line or a lumpy shape still becomes a moving monster.

How long does it take?

The five films take about five minutes. Drawing and shooting take about 45 minutes, and your kid can stop and pick up later.
