ChatGPT answers questions, explains ideas, drafts text, writes code, and makes images. Its study features can ask questions back instead of handing over answers, which helps older students think. For an adult who knows what they want, it's a powerful assistant.
As of October 2026, OpenAI's help center says ChatGPT isn't meant for children under 13, and teens 13 to 17 need a parent's permission. OpenAI also offers parental controls for a linked teen account.

The first step happens on paper: your kid draws the character, the hero, or the robot. Then they direct AI to finish the piece, deciding the story, what changes, and when it's done. The finished project premieres with its own public page, and you or your kid can make it private anytime.
