Halloween for kids Pumpkin painting ideas Black cat

Black cat painted pumpkin
Ages 6+ · about 45 minutes, plus drying
To paint a black cat pumpkin, cover the pumpkin in black paint, add yellow eyes and a pink nose, then give it paper ears and pipe cleaner whiskers. It looks like a cat from across the room, and no knife is needed.
What you need
- A round pumpkin, washed and dried
- Black, yellow, and pink acrylic paint
- A wide brush and a thin brush
- Black paper or craft foam, scissors, and glue
- Two black or white pipe cleaners
How to make it
- Paint it blackPaint the pumpkin black all over. Let it dry for about 20 minutes and add a second coat so no orange shows.
- Make the earsCut two triangles from black paper, each with a small flap at the bottom. Fold the flaps and glue them on top, one on each side of the stem.
- Paint the eyesPaint two yellow almond shapes for eyes. When they are dry, paint a thin black line down the middle of each one.
- Add the nosePaint a small pink triangle under the eyes, pointing down.
- Add whiskersCut the pipe cleaners in half and glue three on each side of the nose. A grown-up can poke small holes with a skewer and push them in instead.
