Halloween for kids Pumpkin painting ideas Googly-eye monster

Googly eye monster pumpkin
Ages 6+ · about 45 minutes, plus drying
To make a googly eye monster pumpkin, paint the pumpkin green, glue on as many googly eyes as you like, and add a mouth with paper teeth. Every monster comes out different, and your kid decides how many eyes it needs.
What you need
- A pumpkin, washed and dried
- Green acrylic paint (or purple, or blue)
- A wide brush
- Googly eyes in different sizes
- Glue dots or white glue
- White paper, scissors, and a black marker
How to make it
- Paint it greenPaint the pumpkin green all over with the wide brush. Let it dry for about 20 minutes and add a second coat if needed.
- Draw the mouthWith the black marker, draw a big mouth: a wide smile, a zigzag, or a wobbly line.
- Cut the teethCut small triangles or squares from white paper. Leave a strip at the top of each tooth to glue down.
- Glue the teethGlue the teeth along the mouth line, pointing down. Uneven teeth look funnier.
- Add the eyesGlue on the googly eyes: one giant eye, or ten small ones. Press each one for a few seconds. If they slide off, a grown-up can use a hot glue gun.
- Name itWrite your monster's name on a paper flag and tape it to a toothpick in the top.
Tips by age
For younger kids
Use glue dots: they hold the googly eyes at once, with no waiting.
For older kids
Design the monster in Monster Maker first, then paint the pumpkin to match it.
