Halloween for kids Pumpkin painting ideas Mummy

Mummy pumpkin with masking tape
Ages 6+ · about 20 minutes
To make a mummy pumpkin, wrap strips of white masking tape around a pumpkin, crossing them at different angles, and leave a gap for two googly eyes. There is no paint and no mess, and it takes about 20 minutes.
What you need
- A pumpkin, washed and dried (tape doesn't stick to a wet skin)
- A roll of white masking tape or painter's tape
- Two big googly eyes
- Glue dots or white glue
How to make it
- Tear the stripsTear strips of tape about as long as your hand. Make a small pile before you start.
- Start wrappingStick the strips across the pumpkin at different angles so they cross each other. Leave a gap across the middle for the eyes.
- Cover it upKeep going until almost no orange shows, except in the eye gap. Wrinkles and loose ends make it look more like a mummy.
- Add the eyesStick two googly eyes in the gap with glue dots, or with white glue held in place for 30 seconds.
Tips by age
For younger kids
A grown-up tears the strips and sticks them on the table edge; your kid picks them up and wraps.
For older kids
Paint the eye gap black first, so the eyes peek out of the dark, and make a mummy family from mini pumpkins.
